Initial
Training Course Description
Successful
completion of the initial BPAO/P&A training program is required
for all BPAO and PABSS project staff who will be providing direct
service to SSA beneficiaries and recipients. Prior to providing
direct BPAO/P&A services, individuals must attend and successfully
complete all components of the training program to earn a certificate
of completion.
This
initial training course will consist of 3 components:

3-day,
face-to-face training session. Using
the national BPAO curriculum, this interactive training course
will begin with participants attending a 3 day intense face-to-face
onsite session that addresses the Social Security Disability
Benefit programs and related health insurance and work incentive
provisions;
- Practical
Applications
online session. Immediately upon completion of the 3 day face-to-face
component, participants will begin an online component which will
focus on a framework and strategies for the delivery of benefits
planning and assistance services. Participants will have 30 days
to complete the online component of the initial training course;

Written
field assignment. After completion of the face-to-face component
participants will be given a field assignment which they must
complete within 30 days.
