Joanne
Ellis has been working in the field of disabilities services since
1983. Ms. Ellis started as a teacher and administrator working with
transitioning students with special needs then moved directly into
training professionals in the field of rehabilitation and education,
individuals with disabilities and family members on the topic of
Social Security. She has conducted over forty (40) multiday training
sessions nationally, on Social Security and the utilization of the
work incentives. In 1993, she partnered with another colleague to
start their own company to assist individuals who were underserved
in the service delivery system for supported employment. The goal
was to utilize the Social Security Work Incentives to help pay for
some of the funding needed for long-term employment success. Ms.
Ellis continues to provide technical assistance and training to
rehabilitation professionals and to individuals and their families
on Social Security related issues. Ms. Ellis is able to educate
and activate the utilization of the work incentives for the individuals
they serve. They have found that they are able to erase the barrier
that often impedes an individual’s motivation to return to
work by providing them with a clear picture of what will happen
to their benefits when they go to work. |
