John Kregel
Principal Investigator
John
Kregel, Ed.D. is a Professor of Special Education at Virginia Commonwealth
University. He presently serves as Principal Investigator of the
SSA funded State Partnership Initiative Evaluation Project, a five-year
project to evaluate the outcomes of efforts in 18 states to promote
employment of SSI, SSDI and TANF recipients. He is also the Principal
Investigator of the VCU Benefits Assistance Resource Center, a national
training and technical assistance project providing support to Benefits
Planning, Assistance, and Outreach projects in SSA regions III,
IV, VI, and IX.
In
addition to these projects focusing directly on SSA and other Federal
work incentives, he is currently Director of Research and Associate
Director of the VCU Rehabilitation Research and Training Center
on Workplace Supports. He is also Co-Director of Evaluation for
National Supported Employment Consortium, working with many outstanding
professionals from across the country to identify exemplary employment
practices for individuals with disabilities.
Dr.
Kregel has authored over 100 books, monographs, chapters, project
reports journal articles focusing on barriers to employment for
SSA beneficiaries, supported employment, employer attitudes, transition
from school to work and program evaluation. In 1997, he testified
before the Social Security Subcommittee of the House Ways and Means
Committee on the Ticket to Independence program. Kregel is presently
editor of the journal Focus on Autism and Developmental Disabilities.
